Second Tier Commissions

Second Tier Commissions
All programmes on the Affiliate Window network have the option to reward 2nd tier affiliates, however not all merchants use this function.
Second Tier Commissions are commission paid to the affiliate responsible for introducing another affiliate to the network, who has made a commission on particular merchant program. This is normally a small percentage amount of the sale generated by the second affiliate. The majority of the programmes on Affiliate Window do not have this enabled as standard.
Traditionally they are industry bodies or consultancies who have sway recommending certain merchants to other affiliates. In order for them to recommend merchants they are offered an incentive reward of 5% of the confirmed commission on any transaction.
Please see an example of how this works below:
- Affiliate A recommends that Affiliate X promotes Merchant Z (offers commission of 10%)
- Affiliate X send through traffic that results in a transaction value of £100.
- If the sale is validated, then Affiliate X will receive % of the transaction value (£10 - which is 10% of the basket value).
- As a 2nd tier referrer Affiliate A will also receive 5% of the £10, or 0.50p.
- If the sale was declined Affiliate A and Affiliate X receive nothing.
